Welcome Back Sunday School!

Safety concerns and restrictions due to COVID have definitely changed how we gathered at church this past year. While we continued to worship –either virtually or socially distanced in the sanctuary –our Sunday School classes stopped meeting for an extended period of time. Sunday School classes are starting back.

For more information about our Preschool click here.

The Koinonia class is meeting at 9:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and all adults are invited to join them. It doesn’t mean that you would become a member of their class unless you would like to. It is just a place for adults to meet for Sunday School during the pandemic.

Sunday, January 17, Confirmation Classes begin. We will meet in the Koinonia classroom by the Fellowship Hall from 5:30 -7:00 p.m.

Join us this Sunday, January 10 at 10 am for online worship. We will not have an in-person service this week. We plan to meet in-person starting January 17.

Due to Covid-19, there were not sheets to sign up to ring the bell at Kroger. Amelia Wilkes has been calling people to fill the slots on Fridays and Saturdays until Christmas. If you are interested in helping out, please call Amelia at 731- 445-9444.

If you are interested in an Advent Sunday School lesson, the Koinonia class would like to invite you to join them at 9:15 on Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall. The class will begin Adam Hamilton’s new study “Incarnation” this Sunday, November 29. Covid - 19 protocol will be observed.

Advent devotionals to go along with our sermon series are available from the church. Those who would like one can contact the church office at 285-6454, and we will mail it to you or you can let us know to prepare one for you and you can come by the church and pick it up.

The Salvation Army would like to give older children $10 gift cards for Christmas. To make this possible, they need our help. Gift cards can be from fast food places like Chick-Fil-A, McDonald’s or even Walmart so they can pick out their own gift.

Would you like to order a poinsettia in memory or in honor of a loved one? Poinsettias will be displayed in the sanctuary starting Sunday, December 20. This year poinsettias will be sold by the church and proceeds will go to the Flower Fund. Poinsettias are $20.

There are also baskets beside the toy collection box inside the Troy doors to collect gloves, mittens, scarves, winter hats, underwear, socks, etc. for needy children that will be donated to the local schools. These will be collected throughout the holiday season as they will not be delivered until school reconvenes after Christmas

After careful consideration, the church has decided to cancel this year’s Upward season. If you know anyone outside the church that may have a child that has played in the past, please share this information with them.

It is time for our annual Toy Drive for Reelfoot Rural Ministries. A collection box is in the area connecting the halls that lead from the Troy parking lot doors and in the Fellowship Hall to receive your donations. Please bring toys as soon as possible as the Toy Store is open from November 9 through December 11.

Sunday, November 1, we will celebrate All Saints’ Sunday during our morning worship services and remember our loved ones who have passed away this past year.

Saturday, October 31.

Have you missed cooking for Methodist Monday Meals? Here’s your chance to fire up the kitchen again. The Evangelism Team has begun a new project to take sweet and/or savory treats to faculty/staff of all our city and county schools. The project will begin in September and run into December.

This Thursday at noon, the church will send out a link to sign-up for worship this Sunday, August 16 via email and text. You will be able to pick from two services: 8:30 am and 10:00 am.

It’s almost that time again! Kids will be going back to school and can use assistance with school supplies and needs.
By sponsoring a child for $25 you will help provide them with the tools they need to have a successful school year.
Thank you for helping!

Beginning Wednesday, May 6, the front half of the sanctuary will be open for prayer from 10am until 2pm. Please enter through the Troy Street doors.

The Over 50 Club will meet on Thursday, March 12 for lunch and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 am.
Music is being provided by Pam Mabry.

Sunday, March 8, the time changes. Don’t forget to set your clocks forward an hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

It is again time to order flowers for Easter! This year, there are two choices for Easter flower memorials and honorariums. Lilies are available for $20 each.

While you are looking forward to the warm days of summer and making plans for your children’s activities, don’t forget our United Methodist camp, Lakeshore. Lakeshore is for kids from seven-years-old through Senior High School.

Our church has always been good at what God calls of His people to do, to be a conduit of His love to others. From Upward® Basketball to helping those in need, the FUMC family is fully engaged with our community. One of the ministries that started here at FUMC has taken on a life of its own... Mission Blitz!

Methodist Monday Meals will be served on Monday, March 9, and March 23, 2020.

Katherine Rowe, a missionary serving in Africa will be at church on Sunday, February 23, 2020. She will be available during the Sunday School hour in the Chapel to share her experiences as well as explain her mission work in Africa.

Hopefully you remember the story of how the Methodists led the way in establishing African American colleges when the Civil War ended. Merely months after wars end, our Methodist family began Rust College in Holly Springs, MS in 1866.

Please join us for dinner on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall where Dr. Eric Soard will share updates on our mission work in Tanzania. Dinner donations will support this on-going work.
