Preschool Registration For 2020-2021 School Year Registration for church members will begin January 21. Registration for currently enrolled students begins on January 27. Registration will be opened to the public on February 3.

Hopefully you remember the story of how the Methodists led the way in establishing African American colleges when the Civil War ended. Merely months after wars end, our Methodist family began Rust College in Holly Springs, MS in 1866.

Please join us for dinner on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall where Dr. Eric Soard will share updates on our mission work in Tanzania. Dinner donations will support this on-going work. 

Methodist Monday Meals will be served on January 13th and 27th during the month of January. 

Child care will be provided for the 11:00 pm Christmas Eve Service. 

On Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m., we will have our annual Christmas Eve service for children. When the children arrive, they will be asked what nativity character they would like to be. We will then dress them over the clothes they are wearing as Joseph, Mary, a shepherd, a wise man, an angel, a sheep, or a camel.

On December 29th, the children are going to see the Discovery Park lights. The bus will leave at 5:00 p.m. Please contact Tori for more information and to sign up. 

The Dyersburg Choral Society will present its annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 12th at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 2280 Parr Avenue, Dyersburg. Everyone is cordially invited to attend this free concert. 

Methodist Monday Meals will serve meals in December on December 16th instead of the week of Christmas. 

It’s time once again for our mitten trees to go up in the church. Each year we collect mittens and gloves for school age children to help keep them warm in the winter. This year we are changing it up by adding socks and underwear.

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS 

Please remember to sign up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. Please give one hour of your time this Christmas season to support the Salvation Army to help feed and clothe our neighbors.

The Seekers’ Sunday School class will sell poinsettias this year. Forms are available in the print room to order a poinsettia in honor or in memory of a loved one. Poinsettias are $20. Deadline to order poinsettias is Sunday, December 1st.

It is time for our annual Toy Drive for Reelfoot Rural Ministries. A collection box is in the back of the sanctuary and in the Fellowship Hall to receive your donations. 

A list of age-appropriate toy suggestions is posted by the Chapel. Toys may be brought to the church through Friday, December 6. 

Daylight Savings ends Saturday, November 2. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER WILL CLOSE AT 5:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31 FOR THE DOWNTOWN TRICK OR TREAT EVENT. 

The Dyersburg Downtown Association is planning its 2 annual downtown Halloween event. Downtown Trick-or- Treating will take place on Thursday, October 31st. FUMC will be participating again this year.

The Quarterly Meeting will be Monday, October 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room. Methodist Monday Meals will be served Monday, October 14, and October 28. Ladies preparing the meals will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. 

Due to unforeseen events, the MS River District Ministry Celebration has been cancelled. We will announce a new date at a later time. 

The Over 50 Club will have a luncheon Thursday, September 12 at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Mr. Bobby Baker will do the musical program. A $5 donation is suggested.

Sunday, August 11, is promotion Sunday in our children’s and youth Sunday School classes. Instead of our children and youth going to their current Sunday School classroom, they will go to the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m. on August 11.

It’s that time of year again, when we start planning the 2020 Tanzanian Mission Trip. Our first informational meeting will take place on August 7th at 6 p.m. in the Koinonia classroom, which is right off the Fellowship Hall.

There will be a Parents’ Night Out Saturday, August 17 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Family Life Center. Parents’ Night Out is an FLC program where we keep your children giving you the opportunity to do whatever you desire.

The Dyer County United Methodist Parish is hosting their first “Parish in the Park” this Saturday, April 27, from 12-3 pm at Okeena Park in Dyersburg.

For the Maundy Thursday service, please park in the Troy Avenue parking lot and use the stairs at the corner of the lot to enter the Vesper Area (by the FLC).
