Welcome Back Sunday School!

Safety concerns and restrictions due to COVID have definitely changed how we gathered at church this past year. While we continued to worship –either virtually or socially distanced in the sanctuary –our Sunday School classes stopped meeting for an extended period of time. Sunday School classes are starting back.

If you are interested in an Advent Sunday School lesson, the Koinonia class would like to invite you to join them at 9:15 on Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall. The class will begin Adam Hamilton’s new study “Incarnation” this Sunday, November 29. Covid - 19 protocol will be observed.

Advent devotionals to go along with our sermon series are available from the church. Those who would like one can contact the church office at 285-6454, and we will mail it to you or you can let us know to prepare one for you and you can come by the church and pick it up.

The Salvation Army would like to give older children $10 gift cards for Christmas. To make this possible, they need our help. Gift cards can be from fast food places like Chick-Fil-A, McDonald’s or even Walmart so they can pick out their own gift.

Would you like to order a poinsettia in memory or in honor of a loved one? Poinsettias will be displayed in the sanctuary starting Sunday, December 20. This year poinsettias will be sold by the church and proceeds will go to the Flower Fund. Poinsettias are $20.

There are also baskets beside the toy collection box inside the Troy doors to collect gloves, mittens, scarves, winter hats, underwear, socks, etc. for needy children that will be donated to the local schools. These will be collected throughout the holiday season as they will not be delivered until school reconvenes after Christmas

After careful consideration, the church has decided to cancel this year’s Upward season. If you know anyone outside the church that may have a child that has played in the past, please share this information with them.

It is time for our annual Toy Drive for Reelfoot Rural Ministries. A collection box is in the area connecting the halls that lead from the Troy parking lot doors and in the Fellowship Hall to receive your donations. Please bring toys as soon as possible as the Toy Store is open from November 9 through December 11.

Our church has always been good at what God calls of His people to do, to be a conduit of His love to others. From Upward® Basketball to helping those in need, the FUMC family is fully engaged with our community. One of the ministries that started here at FUMC has taken on a life of its own...
