Dear Dyersburg FUMC Family,
The prayers of the Dyersburg FUMC staff are with all of you as we continue to navigate this “new normal” in our lives. This week our students and teachers are climbing a steep learning curve as they learn how to teach and study from home, and parents are helping their children find their footing in this new terrain. Please be in prayer this week for all of our students, teachers, and parents. And don’t forget to pray for students in our community for whom school is the safest and most compassionate of places, and who are missing that love and care this week.
Thanks to everyone who worshiped with us virtually on Sunday. It was a joy to know that we were all still connected even though we were in our own living rooms—many of us worshiping in our house shoes! If you or someone you know was not able to access the worship service, please let us know in the church office and we’ll do our best to get you (or someone you know!) connected. This was a weeklong labor spearheaded by Jonathan Ellingsworth, our part-time media genius, and Dakota Hill, our Director of Music and Worship Arts. Please thank them when you get a chance for the long hours that they put in to make that worship service available.
I hope that you have already received this word, but at the behest of our Memphis Annual Conference bishop, Bill McAlilly, we will be suspending in- person worship services and church meetings up to and including April 5. We hope to have further guidance during this week or next week regarding how we will proceed after April 5.
We are working on creative ways to observe Palm Sunday, and we hope to get that word to you soon.
Please be in continued prayer for those among us who are ill, and please contact the church office if you or your neighbors need anything at all.
Praying for God’s peace in your hearts!
