Transitions of Dyer County is a local ministry that operates a residential recovery program for women with life controlling problems. The women are nurtured and discipled in the love of Jesus Christ in a safe environment conducive to life transformation. Transitions operates primarily on donations which are tax deductible and is very grateful for your help in changing lives and restoring families.

Transitions began as a dream to help women overcome life controlling problems. The first resident was accepted in 2007. At that time, they became fully operational. There are currently 12 women in the residential program and four women in the after care program. The in-house portion of the program is a minimum of nine months, while the after-care portion of the program (in transitional housing) is at least three months.

Each day is very busy for the residents. A typical day begins with breakfast and bible study followed by morning and afternoon classes. Residents have classes such as Celebrate Recovery, Finance, Parenting, Music, Creative Writing, Battlefield of the Mind, and Purpose Driven Life, just to name a few! Residents also go the the YMCA weekly. Once a resident enters the program, they set goals that they wish to meet while in the program.

There are four phases in the in-house program. With each phase comes more responsibility. During the second phase, residents are provided a mentor that meets with them weekly, providing encouragement and being a positive role model. During the third phase, residents begin volunteering. Typically, residents volunteer in area churches and non-profit organizations, preparing them to enter the workforce during their fourth phase. During this third phase, residents are given an 8 hour pass once per week; they may visit family members or a volunteer with Transitions. During the fourth and final phase of the in-house program, residents search for a job and begin work. They are also given a 24 hour pass to visit with family.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new. This is the theme verse for the residents of Transitions. God has called each of us to become something new, created in God's image. Transitions uses the image of the butterfly as their logo. Women enter our program as a caterpillar and transform their lives into a beautiful butterfly. Thank you for supporting this vital ministry in our community.
