“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” 1 Timothy 2:1
This week will be full of fellowship and food for many of us, but that is not the case for everyone. One of our lectionary passages this week comes out of 1 Timothy and this verse reminds us to pray for and give thanks for all people.
As I was reading this verse I thought about those who would be spending their first Thanksgiving without a loved one, I thought about those who would not have a family to go to, and I thought about those who are struggling to put food on their table. This Thursday as we pause to give thanks for the food and family gathered around our tables, let us not forget to ask God to bless those who do not. This week my challenge is for us to not stop with a prayer but to find a way to meet a need and to show the love of Jesus to someone.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Brian, Mary, Brylee, Holland Funderburk
