When In Our Worship God is Glorified
Undoubtedly, you have heard by now that Scarlet and I will be married on October 19th. We are very excited for our big day, and there has been lots of planning for much of this year. We have spent much time planning and organizing: service details, music, invitations, flowers, colors, reception details... just to name a few things! We are also looking forward to a time of visit and celebration with each of you on November 3rd (here at the church).
Throughout our planning, I have discovered a well-known English hymn written for weddings (yet not so well- known here in the U.S.). I want to share this beautiful text with you, which is much like a wedding prayer or wedding blessing.
O perfect Love, all human thought transcending, Lowly we kneel in prayer before Thy throne, That theirs may be the love which knows no ending, Whom Thou forevermore dost join in one.
O perfect life, be Thou their full assurance
Of tender charity and steadfast faith,
Of patient hope, and quiet, brave endurance, With child-like trust that fears nor pain nor death.
Grant them the joy which brightens earthly sorrow; Grant them the peace which calms all earthly strife, And to life’s day the glorious unknown morrow That dawns upon eternal love and life.
I hope that you will join us for worship this Sunday as we come to encounter the Living Christ, our example of perfect Love.
Grace and Peace, Dakota
