Dear Dyersburg FUMC Family,

New year greetings to all of you with prayers that in 2021 Dyersburg First United Methodist Church will see and experience God in new ways and new places, and that we will be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit in all things!

I want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding during these three weeks of virtual worship. I am already looking forward to gathering with you again in person on January 17 at both 8:30 am and 10:00 am, and with those of you who will be joining us virtually! For the next six weeks in worship we will be traveling through Mark’s gospel. We’ll kick off this journey this Sunday, January 10, by remembering both the baptism of Jesus and our own baptisms. We’ll have some special instructions for you as we prepare to worship online, so keep an eye out for communication from the church with directions for remembering your baptism at home!!

By mid-February we will find ourselves in the season of Lent, a season that reminds us that God breaks into our lives over and over again to heal us and make all things new.

I am looking forward to seeing where God breaks in and leads us in 2021. I believe with every fiber of my being that God is doing something new in us, among us, and with us. Every day I pray fervently that God would show us what God is doing, what God is creating, and how God is making all things new. I ask you to join me in that prayer so that in this new year our eyes will be wide open to the wonders of God’s goodness and so that we will respond to God’s generous call to be a part of the redemption of the world.

With you, following Jesus, Mary Beth
