This month’s communion offering will benefit the New Life Union Mission program called Weekend Food for Kids. This program reaches out through local schools to offer meals to children in our community who would not otherwise have enough food over the weekend.
Identifying children in need is accomplished by the faculty and staff of the schools. Each week a group of volunteers pack the bags with easy to prepare foods,
deliver them to the schools and the bags are then sent home with the children in their backpacks on Fridays during the school year. At the end of last school year the program was serving 210 children each week. Each food bag costs around $4.00 and all donations are used to purchase only the food that go straight to the children.
Matthew 25:37 and 40 says “Then the righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
By donating to this month’s communion offering we have the opportunity to make a difference with hungry children in our community and know that gifts from God’s people send a message that God cares and so do we.
