Dear Dyersburg FUMC Family,
I pray that the joy of Easter continues to fill your hearts to overflowing, even in the midst of all that is strange and unfamiliar. It was a gift to be able to worship with you via livestream from our beautiful chapel, and I am so grateful to all who made that worship experience possible. And a huge thank you to all who made it possible for the flowering cross to flower on Sunday!
It was a labor of love by Dakota Hill, the Sojourners Sunday School class, and the generous donation of so many beautiful flowers. And thank you to everyone who came to have their picture taken with it. Even with so much chaos in the world, it was a gift to our souls to have that constancy in our lives!
In the midst of all that we do not know, one of the things that we do know is that we need to continue the suspension of in-person worship at least through the last Sunday in April, and I have a hunch that we will continue to suspend in -person worship even after that date. We will continue to provide pre-recorded Sunday worship throughout April, and, should the suspension last after April, we will work on arranging another drive-in worship service or livestream from the chapel.
We hope that you are tuning in to our daily devotions via Facebook live and that you are receiving regular pastoral care updates. If you are a ministry team leader or a Sunday School teacher, please continue to communicate regularly with your team or class, and if you need additional suggestions on ways to stay connected, please let Will or me know and we will do our best to help. I am so encouraged by the ways that I have seen our ministry teams stay active and be creative as they discern new ways to be in ministry for a new time.
Please remember that your tithes and offerings are as vital now as they ever have been. We encourage you to send your tithes and offerings to the church in the mail, or to submit them to the church via our Giving page on our church website.
I hope that as you have the time you will write lots of cards and notes to people in our church family who need encouragement, to our high school seniors who could use some extra care right now, and to those who have recently lost those they love. And if you or a neighbor have any needs that the church might address, please let the church office or one of the pastors know.
Easter grace and peace, Mary Beth
