Sometimes I feel a personal connection to this past Sunday’s Gospel lesson. Remember the story? The sower and the seeds. I wonder if sometimes our (and my) message is falling on rocky ground, that is, it’s falling on ground not prepared to receive the message, whatever that message may be. Praise to God that there have been some new members to come and join us in the Parish Choir. We are so grateful that they have joined us, but again, I ask for more members. We have many singers in this congregation that are sitting in the pews. We need you to join us. The thing is, yes, it does require something of you. But what I don’t think you realize is the blessing that you will receive.

Several people have told me that they don’t want to join because they don’t want to rehearse. I have to be honest with you and say that this is a silly excuse. Doesn’t the Lord require us to sometimes go beyond what we want to do or feel comfortable doing? Jesus never promised the journey would be easy. Choir is one of those Wesley “small groups.” We are accountable to each other. We care for each other. We love each other. We are in this together. Come and join us. Come and make a joyful noise to our God as we worship the creator of the universe. Use your gifts and talents to the Glory of God and to the benefit of your sisters and brothers here at FUMC. Let us not grow weary in our work of love.

Grace and Peace, Dakota
