Ed White, Senior Pastor
Lea Griffith, Associate Pastor
The Congregation, Ministers

As you’ve probably heard, we have seen a few changes in our staff and will officially welcome Rev. Lea Griffith on July 2nd. We will give her a warm Dyersburg welcome with a reception during the Sunday school hour this coming Sunday. Here’s a bit more about Rev. Griffith.

Lea is married to Brian Griffith and they have twin boys, James Barcroft Griffith and David Miller Griffith (born on October 6, 2016). James and Brian look up to big sister, Melanie (Brian’s daughter who calls Lea “Mom”), who is about to start First Grade at Haywood Elementary in Brownsville. While Lea has a bit less spare time since October, she enjoys using it for sewing and craft projects like machine embroidery and appliqué and working with adhesive and fabric vinyl. Lea is also a member of that long - running Camp Meeting called Taylors of Tabernacle Kinfolk Camp Meeting, which gathers every July in Brownsville.

Lea is an Elder in Full Connection in our Annual Conference, has served churches in both the Tennessee and Memphis Annual Conferences, and most recently was Lead Pastor at Reidland UMC outside Paducah, KY. Lea attended KY Wesleyan College and Lambuth University. She received a degree in B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies K - 8 in 1999 from Lambuth. She then went on to obtain a Master of Divinity in 2004 from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY.

Lea has finished the coursework for her Doctor of Ministry as part of the Nashville Area “Wesley, Mission, and Evangelism” degree program. You may have heard about that when it was started by Bishop McAlilly, Dr. Doug Meeks (Vanderbilt), and the Turner Center for Church Leadership, and directed by Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. As she was moving through the program, she had the wonderful gift of the twins, and thus has a bit of work to do before completing the dissertation project seminar and the writing portion of the degree needed for graduation. You’ll learn more about Lea in the months to come, but please extend to her a warm, loving Dyersburg welcome.

Gladly serving Christ beside you, Lea and our whole First UMC Family: Kristen, Larry, Ed & your FUMC Staff Parish Team
