Happy Friends Respite (Faith-Based) Program Director

Position Summary
Happy Friends Respite is seeking a compassionate, organized part-time director to lead the program and its fundraising efforts. The director will recruit, train, and support volunteers; build relationships with donors and community partners; and raise funds to sustain our respite care ministry. Experience with dementia care and a solid understanding of the disease and its challenges is necessary.
Our Mission
As a faith-based ministry with Jesus at the center of all we do, we provide affordable respite care that keeps families together longer. Through meaningful relationships with participants and caregivers - and the support of dedicated volunteers, local professionals, and community generosity - we offer joy, hope, dignity, friendship, and purpose to persons with dementia and their caregivers.
Responsibilities
● Volunteer Management
○ Recruit volunteers and promote the program through churches, community organizations, social media, events, and personal outreach.
○ Interview, screen, orient, train, schedule, and support volunteers.
○ Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders and community partners.
○ Assign volunteers based on agency needs, skills, and availability.
○ Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, policies, and evaluations.
● Fundraising
○ Develop and carry out an ongoing fundraising plan to maintain the program's financial viability.
○ Cultivate relationships with individual donors, churches, businesses, foundations, medical professionals, and community partners.
○ Plan fundraising campaigns, special events, sponsorships, and donor communications.
○ Identify grant opportunities and assist with applications, monitoring, and reporting.
○ Track fundraising results and report progress to the church's financial leadership and the Happy Friends Advisory Team.
● Leadership
○ Represent the ministry professionally at community meetings, churches, and public events.
○ Promote a positive, respectful culture that reflects the program's Christian mission and caring values.
○ Protect confidential information and follow all church policies and applicable requirements.
Qualifications
● Experience in nonprofit leadership, volunteer coordination, or fundraising is preferred.
● Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and leadership skills.
● Ability to motivate, guide, and appreciate volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
● Comfortable representing and supporting the program's Christian mission and values.
● Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet fundraising goals.
● Experience with donor communications and fundraising events is a plus.
● Basic computer and social media skills, including accurate record-keeping.
● Trustworthy, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
● Understanding of dementia and related challenges.
● Dependable transportation and a valid driver's license, if travel is required.
Reports To
● Administrative and Financial Matters: First United Methodist Church Senior Pastor and the church's Staff Parish Relations Committee
● Program Operations: Happy Friends Program Advisory Team
Schedule
● Part-time, approximately 10 hours per week.
● Typical hours are 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays to oversee the program, with flexibility for program planning and fundraising work. Some evenings or weekends may be needed for meetings, outreach, and fundraising events.
Compensation
$20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Status: Part-Time (3–5 hours per week)
Schedule: Primarily Sunday mornings, 8:45–11:45am, with occasional opportunities for evenings or special events.About the Role

Job Title: Director of Youth Ministry

Summary of the position:- The Director of Youth Ministry at Dyersburg First United Methodist Church directs, operates, and coordinates the youth ministry of the church, which seeks to
- Facilitate the faith development of students in grades seven through twelve.
- Grow and sustain a youth ministry that fulfills the church’s mission to know, love, share, and serve Christ.
- Align the youth ministry with the mission, vision and values of Dyersburg FUMC
Education Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- United Methodist Membership preferred but not required.
- Seminary students are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Increase and promote spiritual development among the youth. This includes teaching the Wesleyan theology, helping the youth develop and articulate their own faith, and providing spiritual guidance.
- Assume leadership qualities which will lead to development and growth within the youth ministry. This includes planning, promoting, and if necessary, raising funds for all youth events.
- Be a visible youth leader in the community by creating an invitational culture with youth in the community.
- Plan and lead outreach, ministry and service events such as extracurricular activities for youth, school events, and mission events within the church and community.
- Encourage volunteer development by recruiting and preparing volunteers to help with youth programming such as bible studies and small group discussions, as well as developing a youth council.
- Assume administrative responsibilities associated with the requirements of this job, such as: 1) Creating, setting, and tracking benchmarks and goals for the youth program. 2) Participating in the annual budgeting process. 3) Remitting invoices and reimbursement requests in a timely manner. 4) Participation in DFUMC social media platforms to help promote and grow the youth program.
